Croz Keeps Pontoon Boat Afloat!

 Damaged Pontoon Float!








I was called out to repair a damaged pontoon that had the bbq mount ripped off. I had to remove what was left of the vertical, bend the pontoon as close as I could, cover it with a 1/8" plate and re-mount the stand.

HD Forklift Loader On-Site Repairs

 










Got a call from Drew at I-80 Forklift in Vacaville. They had a SkyTrak lift that ripped out a cylinder hub that stabilizes the boom. They purchased a complete weld in side plate but it wasn’t practical to utilize more than I needed for the repair. I cut out what I needed and used it as a template to replace the missing hub. I double beveled both sections for a full penetration weld.

Welding Skills Brings Me A Fascinating Variety Of Jobs









This was a fascinating job for the San Jose Stormwater department. They have a lot of underground (30’-40’ below) stormwater separation screens to filter out the leaves, plastic, and silt from the stormwater going to the bay. From time to time, because of large debris and lack of maintenance, the screens get damaged and need to be repaired and/or replaced.

Who You Gonna Call When the Airport Concrete Runway Machine Breaks?








This was a fascinating job done for Antigo Construction out of Idaho who was contracted to break up a runway at Travis Air Force Base in Northern CA.

These brutal machines are remotely operated and have a 20,000 lbs. guillotine type breaker bar that is used to break (pulverize) concrete down to a depth of 3’ (36”). Not only does the breaker bar bit wear out, but these machines literally destroy themselves over time.

I spent many hours replacing the breaker bar bits and repairing cracks in the mast carriage as well as the frame structure which is also the hydraulic fluid reservoir. Once a crack develops the machine has to be shut down and the failure repaired to minimize the environmental impact from oil loss.

Croz Welds Support to 80 Foot Tall Billboard During Erection


This was an interesting job for Clear Channel Outdoor.  They were installing a new 80’ billboard just off of Highway 101 South on Shaw Road. My part was to cope the temporary I-beams to fit the 48” mast and weld them together to keep the mast plumb and in place while the concrete was setting up.

Welding Sealing Rings On Two-Piece Containment Box

 





This is a two-piece containment box known as a Clamp designed to go over Valves, Flanges, etc. that are leaking on a system that cannot be shut down. The Machinist will bolt the clamp in place (over the leaking item) then start pumping in a high temp compound encapsulating the leak so they can run until the next shut down. Refineries mainly use these. I was called to weld the sealing rings that surround the pipe itself and the Box Seal at the separation point.
