Welding Sealing Rings On Two-Piece Containment Box

 

This is a two-piece containment box known as a Clamp designed to go over Valves, Flanges, etc. that are leaking on a system that cannot be shut down. The Machinist will bolt the clamp in place (over the leaking item) then start pumping in a high temp compound encapsulating the leak so they can run until the next shut down. Refineries mainly use these. I was called to weld the sealing rings that surround the pipe itself and the Box Seal at the separation point.

I was called to a regular customer's place recently to remount these spiny wagon wheel connections that had broken loose from the tube frame. The supporting structure had to be rebuilt. The wheels are obviously just for show, but they require a solid connection.

Several years ago, Urata & Sons Cement out of Rancho Cordova hired me to do some work at the WHHS Morris Hyman Critical Care Pavilion on Bart Way in Fremont. I was asked to weld 1,600  5/8” rebar to the third and fourth-floor decks prior to the concrete being poured. Whew! That's a lot of welds!

CROZ Repairs Stress Cracks in SkyTrak Forklift

                                                                                                                                                                                       

I got called to I-80 Forklift in Vacaville to work on a Skytrak lift. This time I had to repair Cracks on the frame chassis that propagated from the mounting holes that secure the cover panels, I "V"-grooved out the cracks, ran a root & hot pass with 6010, then the fill and cover pass with 7018 before blending off the extra.

Going Down Deep In On-Site Welding Repair

This was a fascinating job for the San Jose Stormwater department. They have a lot of underground (30’-40’ below) stormwater separation screens to filter out the leaves, plastic, and silt from the stormwater going to the bay. From time to time, because of large debris and lack of maintenance, the screens get damaged and need to be repaired and/or replaced.

Welding Truck Body Tour

Don Crossley of Croz Custom Metal Fabrication Inc., was kind enough to give us a tour of his awesome welding rig. This is a Ford F450 Super Cab chassis with all the toys, transferred his existing welding body so that he could have the capacity he needed. He got everything he wanted except he didn't much like the way the truck rode. So he took it to Kelderman and they installed a 4-link air suspension system and Don not only gets a great ride but some added benefits that are really helpful. Croz Welds Support for 80 Foot Tall Billboard Installation

This was an interesting job for Clear Channel Outdoor.  They were installing a new 80’ billboard just off of Highway 101 South on Shaw Road. My part was to cope the temporary I-beams to fit the 48” mast and weld them together to keep the mast plumb and in place while the concrete was setting up.

Save A Lot Of Money! Don't Replace,! Croz will Repair the Dumpster!

 

Even roll-off dumpsters wear out or rust through. Replacing them is quite costly, but refurbishing them with some creative welding extends the life of the dumpster at a fraction of the cost.
