HD Forklift Loader On-Site Repairs

 

Got a call from Drew at I-80 Forklift in Vacaville. They had a SkyTrak lift that ripped out a cylinder hub that stabilizes the boom. They purchased a complete weld in side plate but it wasn’t practical to utilize more than I needed for the repair. I cut out what I needed and used it as a template to replace the missing hub. I double beveled both sections for a full penetration weld.

I was called to a regular customer's place recently to remount these spiny wagon wheel connections that had broken loose from the tube frame. The supporting structure had to be rebuilt. The wheels are obviously just for show, but they require a solid connection.

Welding Sealing Rings On Two-Piece Containment Box

 

This is a two-piece containment box known as a Clamp designed to go over Valves, Flanges, etc. that are leaking on a system that cannot be shut down. The Machinist will bolt the clamp in place (over the leaking item) then start pumping in a high temp compound encapsulating the leak so they can run until the next shut down. Refineries mainly use these. I was called to weld the sealing rings that surround the pipe itself and the Box Seal at the separation point.

CROZ Repairs Stress Cracks in SkyTrak Forklift

                                                                                                                                                                                       

I got called to I-80 Forklift in Vacaville to work on a Skytrak lift. This time I had to repair Cracks on the frame chassis that propagated from the mounting holes that secure the cover panels, I "V"-grooved out the cracks, ran a root & hot pass with 6010, then the fill and cover pass with 7018 before blending off the extra.

Heavy Machinery Repairs To Keep The World Turning! Croz Custom Metal Fab Welding

 

This was an interesting job at the Recycling Zone in Fairfield. The Main pin on the Baler snapped and launched the main cylinder through the exterior wall. It bent and fractured the 2” thick plate as it twisted out of the pin bore. As a temporary repair (until a replacement plate could be fabricated) I Air Arced out the crack, prepped, and rewelded the plate so they could safely continue operating the machine.
