Interesting Baler Repair At Recycling Facility

 











This was an interesting job at the Recycling Zone in Fairfield. The Main pin on the Baler snapped and launched the main cylinder through the exterior wall. It bent and fractured the 2” thick plate as it twisted out of the pin bore. As a temporary repair (until a replacement plate could be fabricated) I Air Arced out the crack, prepped, and rewelded the plate so they could safely continue operating the machine.

Welding Truck Body Tour


Don Crossley of Croz Custom Metal Fabrication Inc., was kind enough to give us a tour of his awesome welding rig. This is a Ford F450 Super Cab chassis with all the toys, transferred his existing welding body so that he could have the capacity he needed. He got everything he wanted except he didn't much like the way the truck rode. So he took it to Kelderman and they installed a 4-link air suspension system and Don not only gets a great ride but some added benefits that are really helpful. Croz Repairs Suspension Equalizer Bracket at North Bay Truck Center





I was called out to North Bay Truck Center to repair a damaged bracket that houses the Suspensions Equalizer. New Doughnut Rings had to be fabricated and the old holes had to be cut out so the new rings could be welded in place.

Croz Transfers a Tank Sending Unit to Doner Tank at North Bay Truck Center




North Bay Truck Center called me out to remove the fuel tank sending unit from a damaged tank, to a Doner tank that does not have a sending unit.

After roughly cutting out the existing Bung, and laying out the placement the position onto the doner tank, I removed the Bung from the excess material and welded it to the doner tank.

Adding Split-T To An In-Service Stainless Steel Line

Croz Welds Cracked Intake Manifold at Solano County Cogeneration Plant

I was called to the Solano County Cogeneration Plant to repair a couple of cracks on one of the Power Generators Intake Manifold. I cleaned, Dye-Checked the area to expose the cracks, ground prepped the areas and welded. both inside and out.

Trellises and Other Fun Ornamental Projects

I have that license so I can do these fun ornamental projects.. The images shown are decorative Trellises in front of Lennar at Innovations living community in Freemont. I did this welding job for Column Concepts of Benicia. Prior to the welding, these are ratchet-strapped together as I tap weld them, then I can start removing the straps as I go, then start welding these together.

Fixing Up Some Rolling Stock. Another Interesting Welding Challenge




Sometimes I'm called to use some of my expertise on rolling stock. Here's an interesting example from several years ago when I was asked if I might repair a trailer with my welding skills. The Vineyard RV Park on Midway Road in Vacaville CA needed some mangled and worn-out fenders on their dump trailer repaired. To help them last much longer, I reinforced them with ½” tubing to keep them from being destroyed prematurely. Another interesting welding day.
